Rodents at the north end of the valley

Mojave sits in Kern County where the Antelope Valley runs into open desert. When nights cool off, rodents leave that open ground and head for garages, sheds, and the warm gap under a door. Same flat $60 in Mojave as in Lancaster for the general visit. Rodent work is quoted after we see the building. Weekend morning appointments available.

The walkthrough is inspect, then trap, then exclude. A house mouse leaves small droppings, fine gnawing, and a musky smell in a drawer or the garage corner. A roof rat leaves larger droppings, greasy rub marks along a beam, and noise in the attic or the top of a block wall. We do not guess from a photo. The quote comes after the inspection.

On a Mojave house we check four things before we talk about stations:

    • Door sweeps, especially the garage door and any side door that sits off the slab.
    • Garage seals along the bottom corners, where the rubber pulls away.
    • Vents, including the crawl or attic screen if the house has one.
    • Utility penetrations where the cooler line, cable, or water line enters.

Preventative bait stations, if you want them after that visit, are $160 for four tamper-resistant stations and $20 a month. Read more in our guide to mice and rats in the Antelope Valley.

Black widows, wasps, and the occasional scorpion

Scorpions come up in desert-town questions. Around Mojave they are a minor issue. If we see them on a visit we treat the foundation and the harborage we can reach. They are not the reason most Mojave calls start.

Black widows and wasps are the more ordinary find, on sheds, block walls, and equipment that sits still. Wasp removal is included in the $60 service. You do not pay a second fee because the nest is on the outbuilding instead of the eaves.

Well houses, sheds and garages are treated on the same visit at no extra charge.

Shops and restaurants along SR-14 and SR-58

Small businesses and restaurants along SR-14 and SR-58 can book a free walkthrough and a written report. We do not list client names here. The commercial visit is separate from the $60 home service, and home child care starts at $100 a month. Start from the commercial pest control page.

Owner-operated, so the owner who quotes you is the owner who shows up. Prices for the general visit are also on the Lancaster and Palmdale pest control cost page.
